Made our wedding visit fantastic!!!
by bigmama1 at Citysearch
This was the best place for our group to be. It is a small, very clean well-kept motel. The renovated rooms were wonderful with ecclectic 70's decor. We could see other members from our party over the balcony. The service was fantastic esp Silvia(housekeeping) and Roberto - manager. Coming from Wisconsin we didn't want to get into the car and drive in LA if we didn't have to. We could walk to the Farmer's Market/two huge shopping centers (Grove and Beverly..) We walked to the Walk of fame and The chinese theater district( bussed back however - a little far) and we could walk to the Silent Movie Theater on Fairfax where the wedding occurred. The kitchen units/suites would be great for family and we wish we had known to ask for one. We did have one for a "bridal" suite the night of the wedding which was great for our son/wife. It was a great experience. And additionally Swinger's restaurant nextdoor/on site was great with excellent choices including vegetarian selections etc. Our visit far exceeded our expectations!!! Thank-you very much Silvia and Roberto
- Pros: location/neatness/rooms
- Cons: no game rooms for children or in room coffee service or meeting room
Retro-chic '60s motor lodge, adjacent to quirky hot-spot diner Swingers

In Short
Operated by the Adler family since 1964, this hotel's renaissance began in the '90s when daughter Karen decided to play up the kitschy energy and enhance each room with stylish touches, like blonde-wood headboards inset with artsy black and white photographs. There are 52 rooms all with signature design elements: one deep-blue wall and stylish headboards. Standard rooms have microwaves and small refrigerators, and all 10 kitchenette units feature a full-size refrigerator, microwave, electric stove and oven, and a kitchen.
The Beverly Laurel ROCKS!

First of all, there is the staff, namely Roberto! He is the most pleasant and accomodating person in all of L.A. I swear! Everyone there always has a smile and a hello. The vibe is that of a well kept apartment building that has a retro yet home like feeling. It has it's minor imperfections, but believe me they give this wonderful find character. U can count on comfy pillows, lots of clean towels, and plenty of shopping!!! The decor is fun and festive. A call to the front desk and they will have you a taxi in minutes! I go to L.A. alot, and I consider the Beverly Laurel my home away from home :)
- Pros: Some have kitchens, microwaves, fridges
An LA Find

I loved this place. Its a motel, rather than hotel but its cheap, well looked after, retro looking and has a fantastic location. Free parking to boot, it really is brilliant for the money.
The one and only downside was the lack of cutlery or plates so u have to eat out. But there is a diner right underneath.
- Pros: free parking, great location, very good price
- Cons: have to eat out

We have stayed at the Beverly Laurel twice now and don't have anything negative to say about it. Great for a inexpensive, last minute weekend getaway! Rooms are very art deco retro and Swingers downstairs is great for a full breakfast and late night munchies!
- Pros: Inexpensive, Off-street parking

Cheap, clean, good location. The 50s-themed diner on the ground floor is quite good, too.
- Pros: Location, Hip, downstairs diner, Affordable
- Cons: Freeway noise
Hipster Hotel

It has a great atmosphere, and room decor. I could see Ricky Ricardo staying here. You can't beat the proximity to Swingers, my favorite diner. Gotta love the industrial waitresses!
The place can be noisy with the central courtyard, so bring some ear plugs if you wish to sleep in.
I saw a porn movie being filmed there, take that as a pro or con.
- Pros: Hipsters Abound!, Funky room decor, nice managers
- Cons: burn holes in sheets, noisy in morning, no shampoo!
