Brava, molto bene!
by jordanalorraine at Citysearch
I found Pizzicotto using UrbanSpoon, and it is a new favorite of mine! I went with a friend, with whom I had visited Italy, and we enjoyed the excellent food and the memories it brought back. The Pollo Frescha is AMAZING!
- Pros: great food in a fun atmosphere
- Cons: um....nope
Great Pizza in Brentwood
by blissbourne at Citysearch
My pizza was delicious! The server was not very attentive but overall my experience was great! The place was jam packed on a Saturday afternoon so I opted to sit outside. Smells great when you walk inside, and the little lady that others say is rude was very nice to me. She seated me immediately and made sure that I was taken care of. I am not Italian but it seems very authentic to me. Many of the people in there were either Italian or very fluent in Italian and in large family groups. I'll highly recommend if you're looking for a great pizza!
AMAZING!

I get lunch take-out from here 2-3 times a week. The food is incredible - I am Italian and this food is authentic - not the Buca di Bepo/Maria's stuff. The service staff is always polite and attentive. I'm not sure who everyone is referring to as the "rude owner" but the Italian woman I deal with is always pleasant and I have been here approx 90 times in the past 9 months!
- Pros: food, staff
- Cons: ambience is lacking a bit
She is RUDE!
by mffinla at Citysearch
I couldn't agree more about the woman who operates the place. She has to be the rudest, nastiest restaurant proprietor in LA. I think the food is pretty good for the price, but eating there is such an ordeal because she's just so rude.
- Pros: The food
- Cons: The woman at the door.
If you are Italian don't bother eating here
by ciak at Citysearch
In short: I will not eat here again. All flair no taste, might be good for non-Italians.
I went to Pizzicotto with the hope that finally I would find a decent Italian restauarant. I enter and my hopes where raised as the place looked genuine and the waiter & owner spoke Italian
I was not treated rudely at all but I can believe other reviewers as the restaurateur has certain behavioral characteristics that it is not hard to believe.
The food was going to play my judgment.
Pasta:
I ordered Spaghetti with Calamari (with tomato sauce). Great disappointment and insult. The sauce they used was the Italian-American "marinara" sauce with too much garlic in it, killing the taste of the calamari. The calamari was not succulent and soft as I am used to back in Italy. As soon as I tasted the pasta I removed in my mind the label "Italian" restaurant.
I had a suspicion that the pasta, a bit al dente, was pre-cooked and then re-heated with the sauce. But thats a suspicion.
Pizza:
The worst I had. The base was terrible and they used the tomato base sauce similar to the marinara.
I asked the waiter if they had "salsiccia" (real Italian sausage) to add as an extra on the pizza and he said yes. I stressed it being "salsiccia" and not the sweet Italian sausage variety you only find in the U.S. He assured me the former. Lo and behold it was the American variety.
Although better than your average Italian-American restaurant i will not return here. I can do a better plate at home.
Bill for 2 people (2 pastas, 2 glasses of pinot griggio, 1 pizza) = $60
- Pros: Wine & ambience
- Cons: Worst pizza
rude proprietor
by palisadesjohn at Citysearch
my family and i went out for an early casual dinner on a sunday evening and made the mistake of trying pizzacotti. i can't actually rate the food because the proprietor took one look at me and decided that she did not want me or my family to patronize her establishment. she was incredibly rude and claimed she could not accommodate us though her establishment was only one third full. i was deeply insulted. i can only assess that she might be, dare i say, biggoted? i say this only because literally no words were exchanged prior to the initiation of this attitude on her part. i have honestly never experienced this type of behavior in my 38 years. i am only sorry my one year old son now has.
to the proprietor: shame on you. you will be the demise of your business.
- Cons: the owner.
Kitchen often closes early / Owner is a *****!!!
by BrentwoodJohnny at Citysearch
I'm local to Brentwood & have been here several times. The food is decent, albeit pricey. Their bread is usually stale, though. The service is slow and the waiters are a bit snobby. Also, the seating is cramped. There are many excellent Italian restaurants in Brentwood, so this place is nothing to really write home about. However, what really makes this place stand out from the crowd is its owner. If you want to be treated like **** & talked down to as if you're a small child, then I would highly recommend this place (kidding of course!) I tried going there last Tuesday at around 9pm. They're supposed to be open til 10. However, when I asked to be seated, I was told that the kitchen was already closed. What the ...? This is not the first time this has happened. The last time, I was assured the kitchen doesn't close until 9:30. So the next day, I called to speak with the owner. She said that when they're not busy, they close early. (Not busy?!! It looked as if almost every table was full that night!) I asked her how I'm supposed to know when they close early. In a very condescending tone, she said that I should call in advance to see if they're open. Huh? I should call an hour before a restaurant is supposed to close to see if they're open?!! After several more condescending statements about how a restaurant operates, she finished with "If you don't like the way we operate, you shouldn't come here anymore." Okay, I won't go there anymore. And I suggest you don't either.
- Pros: decent food
- Cons: stale bread, slow service, snobby waiters, cramped seating, owner is not nice
YUM, YUM, YUM
by marinagirl78 at Citysearch
This is my new favorite spot. PERFECT for lunch or dinner. The food was utterly fantastic (I had the tortellini Porcini mushroom pasta), and the service was excellent. We sat upstairs and had a lovely, easy going, and VERY tasty lunch that was anything but overpriced! This was by far the best spot I've been to in a long time!
- Pros: Free Parking if you can find it
- Cons: Not a lot of parking...
overrated, overpriced
by kdouglass at Citysearch
we just came from Pizzicotto in Brentwood. We had the flank steak and porchini rizzotto, it was the worst, absolute worst italian food we've ever had. Not only are the absurdly snobby at this place and they cram you into these tiny tables where you get to know your neighbors intimately, but the food isn't worth the price. We couldn't even finish half of the meal it was so bad. Long story, short..... DONT GO!
- Pros: cant think of any
- Cons: food, wine, service, snobby hostess, no parking etc etc
THE WORST EXPERIENCE OF MY LIFE
by bebe12884 at Citysearch
i have never been treated so rudley at a restaurant in my entire life. this was the worst experience i have ever encountered and will NEVER go there again. There was group of 12 of us, we had to be split into two tables of six, which was fine. they seated us upsairs. we asked if we could take one of the other tables of six because it was closer to our table. the waiter went to check with the lady downstairs to see if that was ok, well, so we thought, he said it was fine and moved the table for us. a few minutes later the lady came stomping up and screaming at my friend who had made the reservation and threatened to kick us out and that we could not just take a table and move it, she had reserved those tables for a party that was about to come in, my friend said excuse me we didnt just take that table, the waiter gave it to us he said we could. she began to yell at him right in front the whole restaraunt! my friend was about to ask if she would move the conversation elsewhere and that she was being inappropriate and rude, and ruing everyones meals. but my friend didnt get a chance to say that because she kept saying, no im talking right now! at that point we should have just walked out, but we didnt. after that whole fiasco our waiter dint even appologize or do anyting to comensate for that attack. finalyy 45 minutes later we got to order, he took half of our tables order and then went to another table to help them, we were like what about the rest of us? he finally came back and took the rest of our orders. we were finally done and got up to leave. my friend was mortified and wanted to speak with that b* who had no business yelling at her, took her in the back and began to yell at her some more screaming get out of my restaraunt, i never want to se you again! and shoved her out the back door. after reading some of these other reviews and hearing that she seems to do things like this alot, it amazes me that she is still in business!
- Pros: location
- Cons: service
