My friend just introduced me to this place and I can't believe I have lived in LA my entire life and hadn't been there before. It's somewhat of a guys kind of place, tons of USC bros (not that thats a bad thing). I ordered one of my mulitas vegetarian style witch was with potatoes. SO SO good! I will definitely be back! Thank you Julian for the introduction!
- Pros: cheap
- Cons: no cons
Greatest food ever!
by bboppinbrigid
Jonathan Gold (the Pulitzer Prize-winning food critic for the L.A. Weekly) lists this place in his book of his favorite restaurants in L.A. He is very correct--this place is the bomb. Try their fresh-squeezed juices or trademark mulitas.
Though, note that they are open until 11pm on Sat and Sun (not 12pm as listed here).
- Pros: Fresh, quality ingredients; low prices; great variety
- Cons: parking can be a drag

Wedged in a strip mall between USC and downtown, arguably one of the city's best Mexican eateries dishes out tasty burritos--especially noteworthy are the pork and potato--in addition to other traditional delights. Thirsty diners may choose from a wide variety of fresh juices.
Don't know what a mulita is, but LOVE the sopes

La Taquiza, casa de las mulitas, IS authentic Mexican food. Wedged between a convenient store and a nail salon, La Taquiza is the south of the border craving oasis. Restaurant offers commonplace Mexican fare such as quesadillas and burritos. I can't get enough of the sopes. Although guacamole is available, it's best obtained elsewhere. Avoid going during lunch hour as the wait is unbearable. Prices great! Must go to.
- Pros: Sopes!
- Cons: Parking, crowds
House of the Mulitas
by lwmango
Nestled into an unassuming strip mall, La Taquiza serves up some of the tastiest Mexican food I've had in LA. There's a full line of fresh juices that can be served alone or with milk (try the strawberry) along with the usual horchata. Opt for the potato burrito or the restaurant's speciality: the mulita, similar to a quesidilla but smaller and stuffed full of your choice of beef, chicken, or pork. The meat here really shines, especially the pork that has been slow cooked on a rotating-spit. There's also a large salsa bar with toppings like onions and radishes so you can top your tacos any way you like.
- Pros: Good for large groups, Parking lot, Quick Service, Large Portions
- Cons: Can get crowded at lunchtime and on Friday nights
best mexican food near USC

Why do people go to Chanos when they can go to La Taquiza which is waaaaaaay better. I love how they have that little bar with all the jalapenos, carrots, radish, salsa etc. so that the customers can get as much as they wish. The food here is never disappointing.... And the tortillas are made on the spot so they are always nice and warm, and tastes so fresh. LOVE IT.
- Pros: la comida Mexicana
- Cons: none
Best Mexican Food in Los Angeles
by inder22
I have been going to La Taquiza sine 1995. The food is unbelievable! The restaurant is casual and caters to those looking for fast food or take out. Try the Burrito Al Pastor or any of the dinner platters and you will definitely come back for more. This restuarant has a great fresh salsa bar and serves beer as well. Overall the most authentic and best Mexican food I have had in LA. The prices are reasonable and the portions are great.
- Pros: food, price,
Mexican Food ROCKS!
by cjchoi32
I highly recommend the california salad. This restaurant has a special place in my heart after spending many meals there during college.
Yummm!!

Excellent Mexican food! Anything with their shrimp is delicious. I have been going there for a while and was afraid to try the seafood. Boy was I missing out! Such good food at good prices. Their salsa bar is good too but its not labeled so you have to be willing take some risks. The fresh squeezed juices are amazing. I love the lemonade and watermelon juice.
- Pros: price, food, lemonade
- Cons: parking lot situation
My favorite burrito al pastor
by nectarine
(I know burritos aren't authentically Mexican. Don't lecture me on that. I lecture other people on that). But my life's quest is for the perfect Carnitas Mission Style burrito. While I have yet to find that in LA, I am very happy with Taquiza's al pastor burrito. I pour their green avocado sauce all over it to. When I have torn myself away from this and ordered other things, I am always happy too. They serve huevos con chorizo all day!
- Pros: al pastor, accepts plastic, open late
- Cons: parking can be, hostile and , scary
