Mediocre food, poor customer service
by crod7
We ate at Red Moon Cafe today and were disappointed with the food and the service. I ordered the Pho and it was by far the worst I'd ever had. The waitress asked me how the food was and I politely told her that I didn't quite enjoy the soup. She told me that she would take the soup away and asked me to order something else.... so I did. The second dish was not the best either but I ate as much as I could. When the bill came, I was charged for both the Pho and the second dish. I thought it was a mistake and took it up to the counter and told her that the soup was on the bill... her answer to me was. "well you ordered it, so we had to charge you." I smiled, said ok and paid the bill... ..and will never set foot in that restaurant again. I have traveled and eaten in restaurants all over the world and this is the first time I have ever had to pay for a meal that I did not eat.
Good Chinese Food
by johndoeymj
After reading a few of the reviews, I steered clear of their vietnamese food. I've had a couple of items including the mongolian beef. I cannot speak for the vietnamese food but the chinese food is good. I must say that it is bit pricey for good chinese. I would go more often if the price of each item was knocked down by 1 to 2 dollars. Something to consider.
Cheap Vietnamese/Chinese Food on the Westside
by mysuebaru
I usually order the pork over vermicelli bowl and crystal rolls. I like that the pork bowl comes "dry," i.e. not in a soup. There's not a lot of pork, but just enough to satisfy me, and it's decently-priced for a clean, sit-down place on the Westside. The place has better ambience than other restaurants in its price range and is actually quiet enough that you can hear the person you came with. The Vietnamese iced coffee, which comes in a fancy press, is also delicious. My boyfriend and I think the food's a great value for the price, and we come often.
They also make a tasty garlic eggplant dish, with cubes of lightly breaded eggplant, sliced zucchini, and carrots in a garlicky (hoisin-based?) sauce with a side bowl of rice. Normally I dislike breaded things, but the eggplant in particular has a great texture, very light. The other veggies are not breaded and also tasty.
- Pros: free parking (back), inexpensive, good service
Bad Vietnamese Food
by palomar
Maybe they have better Chinese food, but I've ordered TWICE there already, and each time, I said to myself, "why did I just do that?" The food was awful. Not authentic Vietnamese food at all. I'm Veitnamese and can't stand how they made the food! The pork and rice dish was awful, very little of thinly sliced pork. Just AWFUL!
Great "Crystal" Rolls!
by dklyonsjr
Ever since moving here from Houston, we had been searching for a really good Vietnamese restaurant - especially one that had delicious spring rolls (note, the Red Moon Cafe calls them "Crystal Rolls". They do have Spring Rolls on the menu but they fried, and are similar to egg rolls at a Chinese restaurant).
Well, our search is over. We've ordered several items from the menu and have been pleased with everything. We haven't eaten in, so I don't know about the wait staff, but the delivery staff have been prompt and courteous.
- Pros: Good food, Inexpensive
Red Moon Rising

New to the city, I had to play the ol' hit-and-miss game with restaurants. Well I'm happy to say this was a clear hit! Try their Orange Peel Chicken or Beef with Broccoli. If you've got family, try their family dinner, complete with soup, spring rolls, rice, and entrees. They also have a great and cheap lunch special! Give a Thai Iced Tea a try. Once you go, you'll be hooked.
- Pros: Lunch Specials, Inexpensive, Prompt Seating
