Il Moro

by DavidWJohnson at Citysearch

I attended a birthday celebration for a friend here. Easy parking, greeted by both owners and staff, excellent bar and wonderful wines. The food was beyond compare, from appetozers and antipasti to the entrees and the fabulous desserts (we shared and tried several: all well portioned and sinfully delicious. Every course was hot, fresh, and delicious. The friends I ate with were very impressed, too.The satff treated us like family and the restaurant was beautiful. Thank you for such a memorable evening, Il Moro.I soundly recommend thsi establishment for anything from a romantic dinner to a large group function (the patio was wonderful.)I am looking forward to attending one of the Jazz events. Bravo!

  • Pros: Great staff, excellent food, beautiful establishment.
  • Cons: Need more restaurants of this caliber.

SOIREE CENTRAL

by KHRYSTARELLA at Citysearch

I HAVE HAD MANY EVENTS AT IL MORO AND MUST SAY THAT THE FRIENDLY STAFF, GREAT FOOD AND SPECIAL EVENTS DEPARTMENT HAVE ME HOOKED. IF YOU ARE HAVING A SIT DOWN FORMAL EVENT OR A COCKTAIL SOIREE ON THE PATIO YOU WILL NOT BE DISSAPOINTED. THEY ARE ACCOMODATING, AND EVEN CREATE PRIVATE WINETASTING PARTIES FOR THE CONSUMER.

Never organize a group event here. NEVER. Managed by FEMA?

by jonucla at Citysearch

I had such high hopes -- a pleasant garden area, authentic Italian owner ... but it was far too good to be true.

We had planned a wedding rehearsal dinner here for 60 people, and having never eaten there before, decided to try the place first.

I've been to Italy several times; this was far from authentic, but of a fair enough quality that we chose to proceed with our groups dinner plans.

Well, they kept messing us around on the plans, and offered us several fantastic-sounding deals for the group, only to withdraw them when it came time to finalize the plans. The details are boring and acid burns in my stomach just thinking about it. The co-owner then said "well if you don't like it you can go somewhere else."

Fortunately we did ... and won't be going back.

excellent italian restaurant in a beautiful setting

by walessja at Citysearch

This place would be great also in Italy (where I'm from). The food is excellent, good service and beautiful ambiance. I would recommend to start with gnocco fritto and salumi, risotto with lamb and caramelized onions as entree and espresso to finish with (one of the best i've tried in LA). The chef is genuinely from Emilia Romagna and he brings here the best of his region.

  • Pros: food, lambrusco otello, ambience
  • Cons: mmmm

WINE LOVERS HAVEN

by 1FIREGODDESS at Citysearch

Tuesday night wine tasting is my new favorite thing thanks to IL MORO! Complimentary appettizersa paired with the wine of the night, fun friendly people who love wine, chic atmosphere and GREAT eye candy, economical $25.00 per person and you get to try 5 wines. The staff is full of life and zest. I felt at home. Also when I have stayed for dinner my satisfaction moved to the next level. The patio is extremely serene and beautiful with an amazing waterfall. Great date place.

  • Pros: Great wine, food, ambience
  • Cons: traffic

So So

by StephKudus at Citysearch

I went there as they were one of the participants of the dineaboutLA. I was rather disappointed as I felt that they should be showcasing their best in the dineabout menu, I hope they weren't as I felt their italian food was just mediocre. I had their eggplant wrapped mozzarella cheese as a starter which was good but not great, their lobster and shrimp tortellini which the tortellini was a tad too thick and salty. Desserts were just alright.

They were really busy I did feel as though that the kitchen was very efficient however, their front of house was not trained to handle the restaurant at full capacity. I saw tonnes of dishes waiting to be served but wait staff could not get to them in time. Service was alright but not great.

Maybe I should not have ordered from their dineaboutLA menu but I felt dinner rather disappointing and felt I could have been better satisfied easily at another restaurant.

Great food, great service, and romantic - this place is terrific all-around!

by noodle1923 at Citysearch

We've now eaten here three times and every time has been incredible. We're always seated promptly. The restaurant is decorated beautifully and the tables are so comfortable! The service here is top-notch. The menu is fairly large and very well-priced. We've tried a variety of dishes and they've all been wonderful. We will continue to frequent Il Moro and highly recommend checking it out!

  • Pros: Delicious food, large menu, incredible service, romantic, beautiful decor

The best halibut special EVER

by soro at Citysearch

Had a business lunch here and ordered the halibut special which was prepared simply in a wine/lemon sauce. I have eaten a LOT of halibut, coast to coast, and without question, this fish was the absolute most delicious I have ever tasted. If it is available, don't hestitate to order it!

  • Pros: Prompt seating, nice menu selections
  • Cons: Noisy, hard to understand waiters' Italian accents

Some of the best food in LA

by lamusic at Citysearch

Wow, I can't believe that I've lived in LA almost 10 years and have never heard of this place. Had an amazing salad and cured meats for an appetizer. The wine was amazing. Pizza was ok. Service was impeccable. The happy hour is insane, there must have been 10 plates full of food and no one eating it!

  • Pros: Amazing food, wonderful service, great atmosphere, classy.
  • Cons: What's a con?
