A friend of mine recommended Westwood Mercedes because the dealer was just way too expensive. The dealer quoted me an obscene amount of money to fix my engine, so I took my friend's advice. I took my car to the manager named Larry. He is very nice and I am so greatful to have found him. He is not only honest, but he even took the time to explain the problem with my car. He is professional and I will definitely bring my car back again.
Pros: Good location.
Cons: none

At first, I went to a guy in Santa Monica which turned out to be a big mistake! I found Westwood Mercedes on Citysearch, and they seemed reasonable, so I gave them a shot. My 450 SL was running very sluggish and made a strange sound on acceleration. It turned out that all I needed was a tune-up. They are very knowledgable and I paid less than I anticipated. Thanks guys.
Pros: Knowledgable.
Cons: none

I was referred to Larry by a friend of mine and thank God I found him. He is an honest mechanic who you can tell, has lots of experience with Mercedes. At first, I went to the dealer and was quoted a huge amount just for a head gasket replacement. After calling Larry, his estimate was a lot lower and he seemed very reasonable. I got the car back the next day, with no problem. He is professional and gets the job done!
Pros: Professional service.
Cons: Lots of traffic.

I went to Westwood Mercedes because, while there were not a lot of reviews on citysearch, the few that were posted on here were all very positive. This was a great find!!! It's less than a mile from my home, but more importantly, I got great service at an incredible price. I had had my car serviced at the Mercedes dealership in Santa Monica, and they told me that I needed about $3000 of work in addition to my regular servicing (which also cost a fortune), so I decided to shop around to see if I could get a better price. Larry quoted me $325 instead of the $550 that the dealership quoted. He also replaced my engine air filters and didn't charge me for the labor, just the parts. As a woman, I always worry that these auto shops are going to take advantage of the fact that I don't really know much about cars. I didn't have to worry about that here. From the moment you meet Larry (and checking out the website), you can tell he's an honest, nice guy and that he's being fair. He even told me that I could've probably waited longer before replacing the brake pads and rotors on my car (Mercedes dealership made it sound like there was a real safety issue and I needed to have it taken care of immediately). It's not the fanciest or most sophisticated repair shop I've ever seen, but who cares. They get the job done, they treat the customers well, and the prices can't be beat. I would've actually paid a bit more for the peace of mind that I got from them. Anyone with a German car, not just Mercedes, should use them.
Pros: Prices can't be beat. Larry is an honest guy.
Cons: At first glance, seems like they would only be able to service older cars that don't have all of the computerized equipment.

I was referred to Larry by a friend of mine and I am very pleased with his service. The shifting on my SL500 was rough and I could tell something was broken. He fixed the transmission and it came out to be half as much as was quoted to me by some other place. Thanks Larry!
Pros: Good service.
Cons: On side street.

The starter on my Mercedes S500 was acting up, so I took it to a place on Santa Monica Blvd. They said I would have to replace the starter and the alternator, plus they quoted me over $500. Luckily, I came across Westwood Mercedes on the net and got a second opinion. They fixed the problem and it cost me only a couple hundred dollars! Very satisfied.
Pros: Professional.
Cons: Very busy.

After having my Mercedes C280 towed to this place, I was sure that the amount of damage would be estimated over a $1000. To my surprise, it came out to around $700. Larry is very honest and treated me well. It took a day longer than expected, but was well worth the wait. Thank you Larry!
Pros: Car drives good.
Cons: None.

His name is Larry and he owns the joint. I was a little nervous at first because the pictures on the website make the place seem grander than it is. But Larry was courteous and honest. I went in for a basic "A" service and he was able to schedule me the next day. He even dropped me off at the nearby library at my request, and then picked me up when my car was ready. I had to wait longer than he promised but then again, he doesn't do pick-up and drop-off; I sweet-talked him into it and he had to get his friend to come and keep the place open while he came for me. Larry's price was also HALF the German Independent shop (which I can't understand why is rated Best of Citysearch -- the guy was rude and quoted me 20% more than the Beverly Hills Mercedes dealer!) Anyway, who knows what mechanics actually do to your car but I think Larry changed the oil and the filter like he said, and he seemed knowledgeable about the specifics of the car and about Mercedes in general. I'd certainly go back to him and recommend him to others.
Pros: Courteous, Reasonable, Reliable
Cons: no waiting area

I had trouble starting my BMW 325I and someone referred me to Larry. So I had my car towed to the shop, and had it back the next day. I thought the bill would be in the hundreds, but it was a lot lower than I expected. It was a good deal!
Pros: Nice and helpful.
Cons: None.

I had been taking my E320 to a place on Santa Monica Blvd, but the guy couldn't fix my problem. I spent a lot of time and money. Finally, I found Westwood Mercedes and decided to try them. Not only did they find my problem, but they were genuine and treated me well.
